One weakness is already one that should have been `cracked` at an early stage is that the pen has to be flipped each time something needs to be deleted. I (we) don`t know anything about how reliable or attractive the notation tablet is, can be, or will be as we travel thru` the next decade. I reckon that at the moment, it is just a `toy` to be played with to hopefully receive comments back to the designers hence updates galore.

`Advanced` technology like this (look at how long Sibelius has been on the market) and it`s approach to real professional reliability could be another 10 to 20 years away. > Sibelius 7.5 Wallander NotePerformer iMac 3.1 with internal ssd macBook Pro OS 10.10.5 ('Yosemite') > Peter McAleer: composer - choral director - teacher - Sibelius user > I will probably end up doing this in the end, for times when my laptop won't do (out and about etc) but I'm not getting carried away with this however delicious it may look, I have some proper work to do! > Otherwise your just going to have to export the result and tidy up in a proper app.

However, as this poster seems to be suggesting, if Sibelius or any high-end engraving software was to introduce integration with this kind of input in some way, then that would be something. Although I haven't seen the output for myself, I'd need convincing that the engraving standard will rival Sibelius/Finale/Lilypond etc. > I think it's a myth that it's a rival to great notation software, attractive though this is. Posted by Laurence Payne - 08 Oct 10:56AM Various East West, Hollywood Strings Gold, Note Performer It's good to have competing programs on offer - I don't know if the annotate feature in Sib 8 is the beginning of something bigger but Avid must be aware of new developments in other apps and the reaction and demands of users. I know some publishers/writers use other programs and if you are self-contained you can make that choice. For maximum interactivity in the profession you need to choose one (or both) of those. I don't think the majority industry standard of Sibelius or Finale will change quickly. Now, if there's a roll-up touch-screen (affordable) round the corner it might change things. There will always be a conflict between portability and screen size. Portability seems to be the main appeal but such a small screen seems to be of limited use. I would like to see the printed results and how easy it is to format pages before making a judgement. 7.5: Pen and Paper? - Rob Tuley, 10 Oct 01:57AM 7.5: Pen and Paper? - Peter Roos, 09 Oct 11:59PM
